Prayer and Fasting for Persecuted Christians in the Middle East

Sadly, our brothers and sisters are being brutally persecuted in Syria and the Middle East generally.   I can’t help but wonder if there are any OCDS in Syria and Egypt.

Following are some links to blogs and Facebook pages by Fr Barron, among others.

Fr Robert Barron, to whom we’ve been listening during 2013, urges us to prayer and fasting for the Christians of the Middle East who have already suffered much and continue to suffer and die for their faith.

This is a link to the blog of Elizabeth Scalia, mentioned by Fr Barron:  She has some great suggestions for us.

A message from Father Barron:

“A few weeks ago I asked that all the friends of the Word on Fire apostolate thoughtfully and prayerfully consider the persecution of Christians, particularly those churches whose ancient lineage reaches back to the age of the Apostles. My friend Elizabeth Scalia over at the Catholic Patheos site has a modest proposal, that we all offer prayer and fasting on behalf of the persecuted Church- today. We are one Body in Christ, the sufferings of our brothers and sisters is a pain that we all feel. Please pray for the Church and actively seek ways by which you can raise awareness and alleviate the suffering of Christians who are persecuted for their profession of Faith.”
